DIZZEE RASCAL

HISTORY MADE IN 2019

In 2009, the legendary Dizzee Rascal took to the stage at Ibiza Rocks, marking a pivotal moment for UK rap. Known for his energetic performances and chart-topping hits, Dizzee Rascal brought a new wave of urban sounds to the island for the very first time. His fusion of rap, grime, and electronic beats resonated with the audience, cementing his status as a trailblazer and paving the way for future UK rap acts at Ibiza Rocks.

Tinie Tempah

Making UK Rap commerical in the early 2010’s

Following in Dizzee Rascal’s footsteps, Tinie Tempah burst onto the Ibiza scene in the early 2010s. With his infectious hits like “Pass Out” and “Written in the Stars,” Tinie Tempah brought a fresh and commercial appeal to UK rap. His performances at Ibiza Rocks, and our sister hotel Mallorca Rocks, captivated audiences, further solidifying the genre’s place on the island’s music landscape.

The Grime Resurgence

Skepta, Krept & Konan, BBK, Wiley

Between 2013 and 2016, Ibiza Rocks witnessed the resurgence of grime, a subgenre of UK rap. Artists like Krept & Konan and the collective Boy Better Know (BBK) showcased the gritty and raw essence of grime music on the island. Their performances at Ibiza Rocks attracted both die-hard grime enthusiasts and curious music lovers, contributing to the genre’s revival.

#Merky Festival

Ibiza’s Biggest Event of the summer

Stormzy, a now household name synonymous with UK rap’s modern era, made waves at Ibiza Rocks with the birth of his iconic #Merky Festival. Starting in 2017, following a successful monthly residency at Ibiza Rocks the year prior. Stormzy curated a platform for showcasing emerging talent, both within rap and beyond; providing the likes of J Hus, Dave, MoStack and Fredo with their very first headliner slots. #Merky Festival became a must-attend event, drawing massive crowds eager to witness the evolution of UK rap firsthand. The festival’s success solidified Stormzy’s position as a groundbreaking artist and his influence in shaping the future of the genre.

The Next Generation

Manchester Representing

Aitch, a rising star in the UK rap scene, made his mark on Ibiza Rocks with the Aitch2-0 Festival in 2022, following a standout Ibiza debut #Merky Festival back in 2019. Known for his infectious flow and charismatic stage presence, Aitch captivated audiences with his unique blend of rap, trap, and melodic hooks. The Aitch2-0 Festival showcased the vibrancy and diversity of the new wave of UK rap, elevating the genre to new heights on the Ibiza music scene.

This year, Aitch2-0 returns for with fellow Manchester star, Buzgy Malone, headlining Day 1 on 13th July and Aitch closing Day 2 on 14th July.

The Latest Landmark

A season long residency

Bringing the heat to Ibiza Rocks this summer, Fire in the Pool sets the stage as we bring the world’s biggest freestyle platform, Fire in the Booth, poolside.

Hosting the event each week is none other than the renowned Charlie Sloth. His infectious energy and passion for the genre make him the perfect host for this freestyle extravaganza.

Prepare to be blown away as Fire in the Pool features headline appearances from a star-studded lineup of UK Rap heavyweights. ArrDee (Thursdays in June), Digga D (Thursday 6th July), Headie One (Thursday 20th July), Bugzy Malone (Thursday 10th August), and Krept & Konan (Thursdays in September) are just a few of the incredible artists who will grace the stage. Each artist brings their unique style and lyrical prowess, captivating the audience with their gripping performances.
