Get up to date with the latest whispers from the island

Deep into a cold, wet and miserable January, we are here to beat the blues and get you pumped for another incredible season on the White Isle.

2016 sparked the incoming of change for the island as we bid farewell to the iconic Space as we know it after 27 years of debauchery and unforgettable nights that turned into days. New kids on the block thrived (here’s looking at you Elrow) and local staples such as Eden and Es Paradis fought to be seen.

So what is next for Ibiza and what moves and shakes can we expect from the island this upcoming season? Below we tackle the biggest chunks of gossip circulating the social space right now:

The resurrection of Space is one of the biggest topics of interest right now.

Rumours of a new name for the club have circulated for a while but Ushuaia’s owner Abel Matutes Juan (whose control the site is now under) stated that the club “will certainly open as ‘Space’ this year”… “It’s an accredited brand, which does not prevent us from adding another name that will link it with other establishments.”

This seems to squash rumours that the original Space would relocate to a San Antonio base or even superclub Privilege but we will wait and see…

At the end of last summer Carl Cox; the legendary DJ finished a huge 15 year Space residency with a final Music Is Revolution night that will go down in electronic history and stated in interviews that this was his last year in Ibiza.

As we had just about got over our soaring heartbreak of imagining a summer without Tuesday all night long sets from the don, he clearly teased an Ibiza return whilst playing London’s Tobacco Docks on New Years Day by wearing a white tee branded with ‘Pure Carl Cox Ibiza 2017’ – WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

As the rumours circulate and speculation heightens, this may just be a nod to a number of exclusive dates he might be planning at the likes of Circoloco or Music On. The Ibiza regulars among you may have noticed the ‘Pure’ featuring on the tee, perhaps a nod to Pacha’s Saturday fiesta Pure Pacha? Stay tuned for what could possibly be the most anticipated return for 2017.

Following two epic seasons with Space, Barcelona promoters Elrow are taking their inflatable fueled anything-can-happen seriously popular parties to their new home at Amnesia. Hosting 18 Saturday nights this 2017 season and taking over both the Main Room & Terrace, expect this to be one of the biggest and best reasons to party in Ibiza.

Sven Vath & Co will be back once again with Cocoon on Mondays and we are sure Together, Cream and maybe a Do Not Sleep announcement will break soon but there is one major absentee so far.

Music On has yet to confirm its presence again at Amnesia for this year, with many whispering the night may be moving elsewhere. If you’re one of the all-black wearing, Marco Carola loving, Terrace worshiping fans of the night perhaps get ready for a change of scenery.

Things are set to get even wilder this season as one of the most uniquely popular weekly parties sets to up it’s game to taking place twice a week.

Zoo Project, famed for it’s daytime spectaculars and paying tribute to the animal kingdom alongside the sounds of the underground, is undoubtedly one worth checking out at least once in your lifetime. You haven’t been to Ibiza until you find yourself standing front of the seal-pit, painted up as a hybrid tiger/zebra swigging a jug of mojito contently. Having celebrated Zoo’s 10th Birthday last year, Benimussa Park is a special venue and we at Rocks HQ are excited about what twists and turns they take on this summer.

Staying mid-week with us? Now you won’t miss out on the Zoo Project hype! See your Host Team in reception for tickets, tips and animal paint inspo which is available poolside (prices depending).
