Ahead of what will be their fourth summer residency with us at Ibiza Rocks, we caught up with the fabulous Queen of Sax, Lovely Laura and champion DJ, Ben Santiago. We talk all things Ibiza from first memories to island tracks, favourite UK shows and much more.
Having met on the island over 10 years ago, the talented duo have been performing together at venues and on festival stages around the world and their Ibiza shows never disappoint so let’s get started!
Sitting outside Cafe Mambo all day enjoying the local herbs and watching the sunset as Jason Bye blew our minds into oblivion.
Definitely Sa Talaia. It’s the highest point on the island and when you get to the top, you have 360 degree views of the island. It’s so quiet up there and such a fantastic spot to look across the island and ponder at all the madness and hedonism that is going on around you.
Ibiza is a completely different place in the winter. I would even say it’s the real identity as you see the island for what it is; a beautiful quaint little island in the middle of the Mediterranean.
"We are all chomping at the bit to finally relive those magical dancefloor moments together again."
LOVELY LAURA & BEN SANTIAGO
Dancefloors! It feels like such a mad thing to say, but there hasn’t been a packed dancefloor in Ibiza for well over two years now, so we are all chomping at the bit to finally relive those magical dancefloor moments together again.
Beloved – The Sun Rising. It’s a beautiful house tune from 1989 that just sounds so Balearic, it instantly makes me think of Ibiza.
Past: Frankie Knuckles - Your Love Present | Burns - Talamanca | Future: Lovely Laura & Ben Santiago - Feel Me
Favourite past, present and potential future Ibiza anthem?
Stevie Wonder is my [Laura’s] absolute favourite. I would probably melt on the spot and can never see this happen, but he literally moves me to tears. He is something else.
Favourite venue in the UK is definitely Creamfields. We have made some amazing memories there over the years and feel very blessed to be a part of it every year.
Bring money. Lots and lots of money.
