THE COURTEENERS TRIUMPH AT IBIZA ROCKS

THE COURTEENERS TRIUMPH AT IBIZA ROCKS
What a night, what a gig! The summer is really warming up now and it was on scorching form last night at the Ibiza Rocks hotel.

The Courteeners, Goldhawks, Toddla T and the Reverend Soundsystem were all in peak condition - bringing out the big tunes all night long.

London based newcomers Goldhawks kicked off proceedings - their Americana tinged indie-rock has been ripping up venues across the UK and they didn't disappoint on the White Isle with a cracking set of fresh and exciting material.

DJ Toddla T then took to the decks, dropping a bit of 'World In Motion' into the mix ahead of the big match today and prepping the crowd for the huge finale to come.

For the second week running Manchester provided the headlining act and The Courteeners were just as legendary as their predecessor Ian Brown.

1500 revellers were in the palm of their hands - bouncing, arms aloft to 'Not 19 Forever' for a truly epic closing to an epic night.

But that wasn't the end, before the crowds dispersed The Reverend John McClure had grabbed the mic to rally the troops to get down to the Aftershow at Es Paradis.

This is where it got messy - McClure in the crowd, The Courteeners singing Pulp's 'Disco 2000' karaoke-style and then on to the Reverend Soundsystem who ripped it up while unveiling their new direction with a typically rousing and partisan performance of old favourites and brand new indie-dance bangers.

Resident DJ, Doorly, was also on hand with yet another floor-filling set - don't forget that he mixed the new 'Ibiza Rocks presents Reclaim the Dancefloor' compilation which is out on Monday, pre-order your copy here.

A night that will live long in the memory, next week Playboy come to town...

PREVIOUSLY, AT IBIZA ROCKS - IAN BROWN AND DETROIT SOCIAL CLUB

PREVIOUSLY, AT IBIZA ROCKS - IAN BROWN AND DETROIT SOCIAL CLUB
Last night (Tuesday June 15) saw a true giant gracing the Ibiza Rocks stage; Voice of a generation Ian Brown headlined a night of glorious mayhem.

The rain was pouring down as the crowds gathers, but the Ibizan Sun Gods blessed the show with glorious sunshine (even if they did resume the downpour almost immediately after the last note was played)

First up was Detroit Social Club to warm things up which they did with furious panache and by the time Ian Brown sent the opening strains of 'I Wanna Be Adored' ringing out across the pool things were already steaming up.

A titanic 75 minute set followed, with Brown's own material easily keeping pace with the Stone Roses classics. Both 'Golden Gaze' and a trumpet-tinged 'Time Is Everything' were well deserved highlights and had the sweat hitting the sand.

A cloud-raising encore of 'Fools Gold' put the seal on it.

Tonight a legend came to Ibiza.

BIFFY CLYRO HIT THE POOL AT IBIZA ROCKS

BIFFY CLYRO HIT THE POOL AT IBIZA ROCKS
It was then over to the White Isle on Tuesday for Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro making their Ibiza Rocks debut and Bombay Bicycle Club who made the short trip across the Med.

The boys from North London hit the stage first and put in their second storming set of the week, we're sure they'll be back again after becoming such crowd favourites this year.

Biffy then took over to headline the opening party and they didn't disappoint, hitting us with their trademark riffage and a host of hits from their back catalogue. They finished up with a bit of guitar smashing before bombing into the pool to cool off.

After a quick drink at the Ibiza Rocks Bar the opening night closed at Es Paradis for the first of the summer's After Parties that will run every week until September - it was a great end to an amazing few days.

Don't forget that you can get in to the After Party free before 2am with your gig wristband. There will be amazing line ups every week with residents Doorly, Colin Peters, Nicola Bear & Grainger joined by the likes of Kissy Sell Out, Rob da Bank & more for Indie, Mash Up and re-edits.

Next week sees King Monkey himself, Ian Brown, heading to the island for his debut show for what is sure to be another legendary night. Detroit Social Club and the Union DJs will be joining him to support - don't miss it!

THE KOOKS LAUNCH MALLORCA ROCKS

THE KOOKS LAUNCH MALLORCA ROCKS
Wow, what a few days the Balearics just had. Mallorca and Ibiza were absolutely rocking from dusk till dawn thanks to our two sell-out shows.

It all kicked off on Sunday in Magaluf when The Kooks, Bombay Bicycle Club and Zane Lowe got the summer long party started, christening our brand spanking new hotel.

The Brighton quartet were on top form, mixing old and new classics including 'She Moves in Her Own Way' and 'Naïve' while our old friend Zane had the huge crowd in raptures thanks to his legendary DJ skills and record box.

Bombay Bicycle Club were on support duties, showing us exactly why they've been getting rave reviews for the last year with an impressive set drawn from their first album 'I Had The Blues But Shook Them Loose'.

PETE DOHERTY TO KICK OFF SUMMER 2010

PETE DOHERTY TO KICK OFF SUMMER 2010
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, have we got massive news for you?!

To celebrate the beginning of the 2010 season Ibiza Rocks is taking it right back to where this whole crazy adventure began.

That's right folks - to kick things off this year we're welcoming back Pete Doherty for an intimate, sunset-tinged, acoustic set at Ibiza Rocks' spiritual home: the Ibiza Rocks Bar slap bang on the beach in San Antonio.

This flat-out unmissable pre-season party takes place a week before the official start of Ibiza Rocks 2010 on Tuesday 1st June.

Pete's a longtime friend and fan of Ibiza; those of you with good memories will remember that it was he who first took Ibiza Rocks out of the back room of Manumission and into the open air with a legendary - not to mention chaotic - show at the beach bar way back in the early days of 2005 ...and Ibiza Rocks has never looked back!

We may have made the permanent move to the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in 2008 - but we're gonna break the rules for this one and let Pete push the boundaries yet again.

The beach bar has been completely refurbished for the 2010 season and we simply couldn't think of a better way of christening it than by hosting one of the finest songwriters of our generation.

A once-in-a-lifetime show is in the offing - so make sure you're there. Get your tickets here: www.seetickets.com/ibizarocks

We just can't wait!

NEW ADDITIONS - DIAGRAM OF THE HEART AND SOUTH CENTRAL

NEW ADDITIONS - DIAGRAM OF THE HEART AND SOUTH CENTRAL
The excitement is really beginning to build now - Ibiza Rocks returns in just a few short weeks and today we can announce two brand new additions to the 2010 line-up.

First up, we have off-the-hook new band Diagrams of the Heart who are signed to legendary dance label Deconstruction and are currently brewing up a storm of hype.

They'll be playing alongside Calvin Harris and Example on July 6, click here to check them out and hear what all the fuss is about.

Last year South Central blew us away in support of Pendulum so we'd thought we'd reward them with a slot on the bill of the biggest night the White Isle will see this summer.

That's right, they'll be joining The Prodigy and Rob Da Bank for our 5th Birthday Party on July 20 - it is going to be massive!

For an up-to-date rundown of all the gigs and to get your tickets head to www.ibizarocks.com right now.

We'll see you in a few weeks.

IAN BROWN TO MAKE IBIZA ROCKS DEBUT

IAN BROWN TO MAKE IBIZA ROCKS DEBUT
Ladies and gentlemen, have we got an announcement for you: the legend that is Ian Brown will make his long overdue Ibiza Rocks debut this summer when he jets in to perform what's sure to be a simply historic show on June 15th.

A genuine living legend, he'll be bringing the full force of his massive back catalogue and huge fan following to the island to perform classic tracks from both his solo career and Roses days. Unmissable is the only way to describe it.

The decks on the evening will be manned by Union DJs as part of their massive Union meets Ibiza Rocks week - so make sure you grab those tickets now. They're sure to be fast moving.

MALLORCA ROCKS 2010 - THE LINE UP

MALLORCA ROCKS 2010 - THE LINE UP
Ever since we announced the earth-shattering news that we were heading to Mallorca last year, we've been working away getting things ready for what is sure to be an amazing first year on the Balearics’ biggest island.

So, what can you expect? Here's a rundown of all the gigs announced so far...

July 19 - Special Guests

More information on this will follow shortly, but judging by our line up so far you know what you can expect!

July 26 - Dizzee Rascal

The king of UK Hip Hop loves the Balearic crowds, he even named his Ibiza Rocks set as his favourite of 2009. This July he'll be heading to Mallorca and no doubt he'll be hailing it his gig of year too because we can tell you now, it is going to be wild.

September 6 - Pendulum

Closing out the summer in Magaluf will be Antipodean beat monsters Pendulum who have become something of a mainstay at Ibiza Rocks over the years. You know they’re amazing live, we know they’re amazing live – it’s gonna be a awesome finish to an amazing 2010 in Mallorca.

If you haven't booked your Mallorca Rocks trip yet then you need to get yourself to the website to check out our offers. If you're quick you'll be able to take advantage of our early booking discount which ends on April 30.

IBIZA ROCKS 2010 - THE LINE-UP

IBIZA ROCKS 2010 - THE LINE-UP
We're back! Five years after starting our party on the White Isle, Ibiza Rocks returns in 2010 with our biggest summer line up yet!

So, what have we got in store for you?

Well, first off we're very proud to announce that none other than The Prodigy will be helping us celebrate our fifth birthday on July 20. We invite you to imagine what the world´s biggest electronic act will do with a warm Ibizan evening, a huge soundsystem and two thousand up-for-it devotees...

After their stunning appearence at Radio 1's Ibiza Weekend last year, the critically-acclaimed, chart-topping Florence & The Machine will be returning to the white island and we'll also be playing host to a solo show from Bloc Party's Kele Okereke, supported by the brilliant Delphic.

Meanwhile, this year's arrival of Mallorca Rocks will see Ibiza Rocks stalwarts Dizzee Rascal, Calvin Harris and Pendulum all playing back-to-back shows between the two islands.

All that plus shows from The Courteeners, The Kooks, Example, Toddla T and loads more still to be announced - see below for the full line-up.

This year we´ll be hosting an Ibiza Rocks afterparty at Es Paradis, powered by the same ‘anything goes’ party spirit that fuels the gigs. Unbelieveably this will be FREE to all Ibiza Rocks ticket holders (before 0130). Expect the best in mash-ups, bootlegs, 4/4 indie, anthems and everything in between, expertly delivered by Doorly and Nicola Bear alongside monthly residents Example & DJ Wire and DJ Dan from Propaganda. Much more on this soon!

Reclaim the Dancefloor isn't going away though; the night was such a success it now has its own home at Eden every Wednesday from June 16th.

The line ups for this are going to be SENSATIONAL.

Tickets for all Ibiza Rocks shows are on sale now so head to www.ibizarocks.com to make sure you'll be joining us for the best summer of your life.

And if all that line-up news wasn't enough to convince you to part with your hard-earned cash - then take a look at our incredible holiday and midweek deals!

Here's everything that's confirmed so far...

The Courteeners + DJ Toddla T
June 22 – Ibiza Rocks
Liam and the lads come to town with a brand new album and sound. Singer Liam Fray says: ‘We can’t wait to get back out there. People go to Ibiza for one thing and that’s to have a f*cking good time. Let’s face it, we definitely fit the criteria.’ Radio 1 rising star Toddla T will be on board to get you in the mood with his 'Skanky Skanky' dancehall tunes.

Calvin Harris + Example
July 5 - Mallorca Rocks / July 6 - Ibiza Rocks
Calvin is back bringing his dancefloor favourites to the island for yet another year. He's even making history by being the very first act to play Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks back to back! He'll be backed up by London rapper Example who´s having a simply massive 2010.

The Prodigy - 5th Birthday Party
July 20 – Ibiza Rocks
We had to make this BIG. And we think you'll agree that we succeeded.

Ibiza Rocks 5th Birthday Bash will be headlined by the greatest electronic act the world. With a vision of creating a night for `dance kids who want to rock and rock kids who want to dance´ Ibiza Rocks was conceived with this very moment in mind. Happy Birthday indeed. It´s going to be emotional.

Dizzee Rascal
July 26 - Mallorca Rocks / July 27 - Ibiza Rocks
Back-to-back Balearic roadblock for this BRITs winner and Ibiza Rocks favourite who will also be swinging by Mallorca Rocks. Tickets will go FAST! Dizzee himself told us that he can't wait to play Ibiza Rocks again this year: “It was one of my best shows of 2009 - it went off big time."

The Kooks
June 6 - Mallorca Rocks / August 10 - Ibiza Rocks
The Brighton lads have been Ibiza Rocks faves right from the get-go and they'll be back to open to new Mallorca Rocks hotel before returning later in the summer for a set in Ibiza.

Florence And The Machine
August 24 – Ibiza Rocks
It's been an amazing year for the divine Ms Florence Welch - a platinum selling album, huge singles, headline shows and a BRIT award to put the cherry on the cake. Don't miss.

Kele Okereke & Delphic
August 31 - Ibiza Rocks
Kele from Bloc Party will perform one of his first ever live solo shows as part of his side project. He will be supported by one of the biggest breakthrough bands of the year, Delphic. Having smashed into the Top 10 with debut album ‘Acolyte’ these boys and their Balearic sound is a match made in heaven for the White Isle.

Pendulum
September 6 - Mallorca Rocks / September 7 - Ibiza Rocks
Yeah, you read that right, the masters of D'n'B will play not one, not two, but three shows over the summer including the closing party at Mallorca Rocks - we can't think of a better way to finish it all off.

Look out for more line-up news coming soon, including details of the opening and closing parties.

THE KOOKS & ZANE LOWE TO OPEN MALLORCA ROCKS ON 6 JUNE

THE KOOKS & ZANE LOWE TO OPEN MALLORCA ROCKS ON 6 JUNE
Yeah, you heard that right - one of Ibiza Rocks' favourite bands will be heading back to the Balearics this summer to open our brand new Mallorca Rocks hotel. We grew up together, the band playing Ibiza Rocks in the very first year when we were just a newborn festival and they were unsigned and unknown so who better to kick off our new adventure?

The party in Magaluf gets started on June 6 and the Brighton boys will be setting the standard for the rest of the summer. Zane Lowe will also be in attendance to host the party and bring out the big guns during what will no doubt be yet another legendary set from Radio 1's main man. More news on what else we have in store for you coming soon - we can guarantee it’s gonna go off!

KLAXONS BRING THE CURTAIN DOWN ON IBIZA ROCKS 2009

KLAXONS BRING THE CURTAIN DOWN ON IBIZA ROCKS 2009

What a summer!
The party started with the Ting Tings way back in June and since then we’ve been graced with the presence of some of the hottest – hell – THE hottest acts in the world right now: MGMT, Soulwax, Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend, Friendly Fires, Groove Armada and Calvin Harris to name but a few.

And even with that line-up, the best was arguably saved till last: the return of Klaxons certainly wasn’t something that anybody present at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel on Tuesday will forget in a hurry.

The energy and invention that Klaxons brought with them when they burst onto the scene back in 2007 has never showed any sign of waning, even during their recent absence from the limelight. And based on this performance, they’re more alive now than ever.

Big Pink kicked off the evening: their electrifyingly huge sound lifting the crowd skyward and leaving us in no doubt of their deserved future at the forefront of the UK scene.

But it was when the genre-bending, trend-setting, label-defying headliners took the stage that the crowd really went wild. Hits new and old merged into a non-stop assault of danceable, dazzling, future rock music: frankly, Klaxons are everything Ibiza Rocks is about, and those packed in around the stage, the pool, and the balconies roared their approval throughout.

In true Ibiza Rocks style, the party carried on well into the early hours for the Reclaim The Dancefloor! Finale, with Digitalism, Chase + Status and Caspa all burning it down in a spectacularly epic fashion.

For pictures of the evening’s end-of-summer events, click here to treat those peepers.

Don’t forget to have a look at www.xbox.com now, where you can see MGMT, The Kooks, Vampire Weekend, Calvin Harris, Dizzee Rascal, The Ting Tings, Friendly Fires and more rip it up at Ibiza Rocks, courtesy of our good friends over at Xbox and Guitar Hero.

As well as stocking the IR Hotel with Xbox Kiosks and running Guitar Hero World Tour Sessions at the Xbox Social, they’ve also produced these amazing short films with us. Have a look.

Check back soon for a Best of 2009 end of season clip, with all your favourite bits from the summer.

What more can we say, except: same time next year?

Let’s push things forward. Welcome to the next phase. Welcome to the Mallorca Rocks Hotel.
